What a joy to have all the drinking water you need and not worry about tomorrow, so you can prepare food in safe, hygienic conditions. Our family from the community of Tărian can now rest in their new little house, where we have just finished digging a well from which they can draw drinking water.
We all know Albert, Aniko and their two children. A few months ago we set out on the adventure of building them a home where they could live safely, in good conditions.
After last year's fundraising campaign, we were able to make this dream come true. Many people were moved by their family's situation, and with their financial help, Albert, Aniko and their two children live today in a new little house. The rain no longer comes in, and they have a stove that both heats the home and lets them cook.
This little house was built on land owned by the local town hall, in an area where part of the Roma community lives. There is no access to drinking water there; there are a few private wells, but very few families have been able to afford one.
Aniko's family, like many other families in the Roma community, used to bring water for cooking and drinking from neighbors who have a pump or a well, and used river water for washing clothes and bathing. Fetching water from the river exposed them to danger, since the banks are steep, and they carried the water home in buckets. They often had to do this several times a day, because they also used the water from the Criș for bathing.
Since the need for drinking water was so pressing, we decided to drill a well for this family too, so they would no longer have to bring water from neighbors or from the river.
Once again, thanks to people with big hearts and Hope 4 Kids International, the well was drilled and a water pump was installed right in the family's yard, and now they can enjoy this resource.
